Electromagnetic Drill Pipe Inspection

This procedure covers the upset to upset scanning of steel drill pipe tubes for transverse flaws using flux leakage detection equipment, and determination of tube wall thickness using gamma ray radiation, magnetic wall or ultrasonic wall monitoring equipment.

We use a buggy style system with a DC coil as our flux leakage detection equipment.

Also included in this inspection procedure….

Visual Tube, OD gauge, UT wall thickness, and MPI slip/upset

We can now provide up to a Category 5 inspection.
